Abinger Common Nursery is a village nursery in the heart of the Surrey Hills, just outside Dorking. Set in the picturesque village of Abinger Common, we provide care and early years education for preschool children aged 2 to 4 in a warm, nurturing and secure environment.
We operate from The Evelyn Hall on Abinger Lane, where we have been welcoming families from Abinger Common, Dorking and the surrounding Surrey villages since 2000. As a registered charity, we are a non-profit making organisation — everything we do is focused on giving your child the very best start.
Our Setting
Our nursery is surrounded by the wonderful natural environment of the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. We have access to a large, enclosed garden area and make full use of the countryside around us, encouraging children to explore, discover and connect with nature throughout the seasons.
Inside, our sessions take place in The Evelyn Hall, a bright and welcoming space where children feel safe, valued and at home. We run term-time sessions Monday to Friday, with flexible options to suit your family.
Our Approach
At Abinger Common Nursery we believe that children learn best through spontaneous play. We provide a stimulating and nurturing environment where every child is encouraged to explore at their own pace, develop confidence and form strong, caring relationships with our team and with each other.
Our nursery team hold Forest School qualifications at Levels 2 and 3, and we make the most of our beautiful Surrey Hills setting to bring outdoor learning into everyday nursery life. Whether building dens, splashing in puddles or discovering wildlife in the woods, children at our nursery are embracing the nature around them every day.
Children at our nursery are encouraged to:

We are proud to be rated Good by Ofsted. Our most recent inspection highlighted the quality of our curriculum and the positive impact our staff have on children’s learning and development.
